Is it possible to use the same coax cable that is now in use for VHF/DSC for reception of digital tv?

Will this affect reception / transmission of the vhf signals and what splitters should be used if possible?

There is a special splitter "EasyDVB-T" made by Weatherdock to achieve this (the only I am aware of). As every splitter a slight loss of performance has to be expected. However, the unit works fine and results in good TV-pictures. If you do not have a source, PM me.

I would tend to discourage this idea of sharing presumably the antenna and cable. Try the antenna and cable on TV only and see what sort of performance you get. If it is good then perhaps you could invest in a splitter. However it is probably cheaper easier to get another antenna either specially for TV or a low level antenna for VHF. (use high level antenna reconnected when you want full VHF range. lewill

Technically it is possible but I'm not sure how well it would work. You would be using a VHF to receive a UHF TV signal, which is not ideal. You could try connecting the TV to the antenna directly (having disconnected the VHF of course). If that works satisfactorily (and I'm not sure that it would) then you can buy various VHF splitters designed to split off AIS, DSC, FM signals and so on.

Some people say they work - and I am sure they are fine for reception but I would worry slightly about the possible impact on the transmission from the VHF
