VHF AIS to Garmin

I want to feed a Garmin GPSMAP 551 with AIS using the AA10 AIS VHF antenna and the AIS100 receiver which gives out NMEA 183, all from mailspeed marine.

Has anyone done this?

I think the aerial ends in a BNC connector, so might need adaptor to use as a backup VHF aerial?
