Hi,
I swapped my duff wiper motors for some nice swank looking vetus ones. They look mint, and have two speeds and a park position. I bought the matching ss arms, but the fitting is diabolical. The mount on the motor is 16mm and 72 teeth, but the fitting on the wiper arms is as slack as, with just two grub screws. I would have expected a good engineered fit, with just a grub screw to lock in place, but these grub screws are to centre and force the teeth to mesh.....
Appaling for what these cost...

Has anyone any similar experience, or better wiper arms that will fit....

Cheers
Rob

I bought exactly the same, by way of 3 motors for our princess, I even bought the fancy controller. Then after trawling the internet in search of (cheaper than the high priced Vetus units) splined wiper arms and buying some that didn't fit, I finally gave in and bought the "so called" proper Vetus arms and blades. What a dissapointment, exactly as you describe. I do not have any answers but can sympathise with you. I could have hamered the blades of my Honda car onto the splines and done equally as much damage. I cant even tighten the grub screws properly as the sun sheild above the windscreen hampers the use of the screwdriver because of where the screws are on the wiper arms. Perhaps the guys from Vitesse are looking in and can comment.

I have just had a reply from vetus, they say to just use one of the grub screws, not both....
Which is still rubbish.....
Im still looking for a better option, so may end up sticking these on flea bay if i find something......

I am happy with the motors and the control unit so will stick with the poor fitting arms, they do at least work. If you ever come across a solution that utilises the motors I'd be most interested to hear it. There are any number of 12mm splined shaft arms on e-bay, but that doesn't help as we have 16mm. Good luck with your search.

Sorry to hear that. Vetus just buy stuff and rebadge it, and it feels to me these days a lot of the stuff they're buying is crates of stuff thru ali-baba. I had some awful electric seacock motor-gearboxes from them, at £600 each ffs. I reckon you have to be very careful now if buying anything that might be made in China from Vetus. Good luck anyway

That sounds about right.
The motors have a good quality, powder coat feel to them. All stainless. Feels like good stuff. Its just the interface is 16mm, which i am struggling to find another manufacturer. I may end up finding some other spline inserts and brazing them in. But for the couple of hundred pounds spent, its utter sh!t to have to do that.
Fair play to man at vetus-shop got straight back to me, (and i didnt buy them from him).

Here we go Glyn,
These look like a better fit, as they are split and fixed with a stud to compress the two split halves....

Thank you for your email. You can use the Roca arms for the Roca W10 & W12 motors with the Vetus RW motors. You can find these arms online here

If there is anything else I can help with please let me know.

Thats great thanks. For some reason I imagined that the ASAP supplies item was the same as I had bought directly from vetus. I wonder if the blades are a direct fit onto these arms or will we need to buy both parts.

I think they looked like the standard u bend on the end. Bu to be honest i didnt check. Was more chuffed that they looked a much better fit and clamping arrangement, and not a bad price considering they are stainless.

Asap arms, are far better than the vetus ones, and are a good fit. Better than the rubbish from vetus anyway.
Im very happy with them now they are fitted.

Thats great. I had to remove one of the arms to cure a leak around the shaft last week and it really is a horrible, loose, fit that has now damaged the splines where the 2 screws pinch the shaft.
I will try the ASAP product.
