Vetus Windlass

I'm looking at getting a Vetus Alexander III windlass. Anyone got anything to say about Vetus products/quality etc, good or bad.

Have had vetus fittings & one of our generators was supplied by them, service is excellent, and parts supply, but we do keep boat in NL, however when we first owned her, I e mailed vetus with a parts order, & had a reply within 2 hours from uk dealer with full availability etc., so we have had no problem with them, I think the windlass you mention is made by lofrans in Italy

Thanks. I think you are correct about the Lofrans connection. I've just looked at their web site and the model looks identical.

I have got one of these and find it excellent. The service from Vetus was very good, they were helpful, efficient and easy to talk to on the phone, and then organised the delivery straight away. I have also bought an entire steering system from them for my last boat - again, helpful, efficient and good prices!
