Last night I discovered my (until now) reliable sternthruster has decided to only push one way i.e. towards starboard.
I had a quick look down at the "business end" but as it was getting late I couldn't start stripping things down. There are two helm positions, thus two controls and both controls show the same symptoms. My pal activated the switch when I was at the motor and a distinct click (relay?) could be heard in the vicinity of the motor. There is also a box that sits on the motor assembly when the control is pushed over, but nothing happens. The prop is turning ok both ways when I manually turn it, so there aren't any obvious obstructions.
It sounds like an electrical fault, but I don't have any diagrams or anything to follow. Hopefully it's noting more than a dodgy connection somewhere, but would anybody happen to know if there are any "black boxes" between the helm switches and the main assembly i.e. the motor assembly that I need to have a look at, or is it all done on the box that's fixed to the motor assembly?
Advice appreciated. Thanks.
