Might have to replace a head gasket on an old Vetus M3-10. Can anyone recommend the cheapest place to buy one? Have been told they can cost £70, but not sure whether that was a wind-up. Paul

I have the same engine but have not had the experience of changing the head gasket.

1) call French marine on01206305233 and ask for price

or

2) as this engine is a Mitsubishi industrial engine type "K3D" you might want to try a fork-lift part supplier to see if the prices are any better.

Let us know how you get on, please.

I have found dealing with dutch vetus dealers direct leads to much more competitive prices.

e mail me if you want details of my local one (to where we keep the boat), who speaks excellent english & sells what you need rather than profit enhancers.

The engine in question is either a Mitsubishi or a Peugeot marinised diesel. Take the head gasket in to the appropriate car dealer and the chances are he will have a replacement off the shelf.

The engine has 3 cylinders and is 979cc diesel. I cannot find a comparable car engine in the Mitsubishi range. Thanks for the suggestion. Paul

We have seen the "K3D" stamped on the engine, next to the cubic capacity which is 979cc. The fork lift truck people all say they do not use such small engines. We are looking for other commercial users of this engine. Thanks. Paul

David. If we do not find a cheap source in the UK we might follow up your suggestion. Thanks. Paul
