Vetus Exhaust Alarms: Self Test - Active?

Hi. I've recently bought a boat fitted with Vetus Exhaust alarms, but I have no idea if they're working. Is there, or should there be, some form of indication to prove that they're active? I was expecting that there would be some form of self-test, or that they would initially illuminate when the ignition was first switched on. I can't find any operating instructions on the Vetus site nor generally on the web, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure if my exhaust temp alarms are made by Vetus, but I added my own test switch for the lamps and buzzer. I dont know how to add a test for the sensor though.
