Hi, has anyone read a book called "very willing griffin"?
If so, do you by any chance know who the author was so that i can try and find it.
Thank You
Ps I've read Shrimpy and was fascinated by little boats circumnavigating the world.
Are there any similar books out there?
Someone mentioned "Blue water, Green Skipper".

I have signed copy of the book 18 Oct 1977 ... the day my son was born.
SWMBO was in hospital giving birth ... I was at a talk by David Blagden

A very good read,

David Blagdon was an actor doing a lot of resting when he took the smallest boat ever to compete in an OSTAR

He died at a young age in the late 70s. I met the guy and have a signed copy of VWG.

Well, back in those days most Maternity units did not genreally allow Dads to be present. I was not allowed to be at the birth of either of my kids & was quite jealous of my son & son-in-law being encouraged to be there. Mind you S-i-L managed to find an excuse so the 2 Grannies were there instead.

You are dead right.

I took the wife to hospital during the evening ( IIRC she called me home from work early)

I was allowed to stay with her until they took her off to the delivery room. Then no facilities what so ever for fathers-to-be... just stood around in a draughty corridor until everything was done and dusted. Then allowed a few moments together before being sent packing.

Back again for a brief visit after work the following evening and then off to David Blagden's talk. ;)

Much better at another hospital a few years later when my duaghter was born. A decent comfortable waiting room provided.
