Hi all, just had work completed on out drives . VP duoprops. The cone etc was renewed plus plus. Sea trial and straight away the controls are rubbish i find that the throttle is not relly workable and i have to use my body weight to engage forward. Interestly with the engines off the throttles are fine a (normal) (as im used to) although i have not had new cables fitted.
Engineers are saying that one cause could be old cables. Yet they were fine before not perfect but i didnt have a problem and they were definately engaging a lot easier.
Any views Please.

Had this problem myself with rebuilt Volvo DP legs. You will find with use it will ease up. In my case it took around 100 in and out of gears. Got to be worth a try--good luck /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I just had exactly the same on one of my brand new mercruiser 1.7's on which they re-used my old cables... I say old they were new last season. They also initially thought it might be the cable runs... turns out it was because the engine was idling too fast. As soon as they dropped the idle it was absolutley fine. Not sure if this is anything to do with your's but worth checking.. cheers Iain

when they replace cones I think there is a kind of 'sliding shoe' that is also replaced, and which takes some time to settle/wear in.
