..Hmm..reminds me of the time I was standing in the Ops room of an RN shorebase in Scotland listening to the the Harbour VHF channel on broadcast. A young Wren was getting very flustered by the request from a local sailor, 'to take out his pinnace'....I don't think she'd come across one before...
There was a pan-pan call (well actually more of a "can anyone help me?") from a boat called "Man Overboard" a few months ago. It got very confusing, but once the coastguard understood that the boat was aground somewhere off the Isle of Grain power station, and no one was actually in the water, it all got sorted out quite quickly.
