GCSE results today.
Had left strict instructions: call me the moment you have them.
Not a word all day - no reply on the mobile.
Worried and suspected she had gone into hiding, had eloped or run off to sea.

Would you believe me if I told you she takes after me? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

no Guappa i do not believe that she takes after daddy /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif,obviously you wife is an intellegent woman and daughter takes after mummy /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I admit that as my wife is the high paid exec with a degree, and i am a meer lowlife glaswegian rangers supporter /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif our daughters intelligence most likely comes from her.

my youngest also did well, she is doing 1/2 GCSE,s this year as she is expected to do a total of 14 (i think),my little babby got A,s in Chemistry,Biology and a B in physics

Good on her! But give her a thick ear anyway for not calling. You spend up to 20 years worrying over every move/ milestone, the least you can expect is an update.
Tho' I seem to remember did the same thing to me mum in the last century. Of course no mobile phones then.

Well done indeed.
A real credit to herself and to you & Mrs Guapa.

3 years on, and I still don't know what my son got in his GCSEs. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Congrats, no mean feat! I got an A*, a couple of As, 8Bs and 2 Cs a couple of years ago when I did mine, but i did an extra few courses - the big question is, what subjects for next year? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Next year: Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

Year after that - Chemistry will probably get the elbow.

It's been her choice - though may have done some persuading to go for maths.
At least she'll leave school with grades in subjects that mean something. Not so much hot air like Media Studies and other subjects of that ilk. Should we have to move next year, it will be easier for her to adapt - maths is maths and is the same the world over.

Releif, isn't it?

My darling daughter wouldn't tell me over the phone and sounded depressed. When I finally got her home it turned out she was annoyed at herself for not getting enough 'A's! They have far to much pressure on them.

Not like her old dad. One CSE, one 'O' level and many years later one degree. I keep meaning to do an 'A' level to fill in the blank. Maybe in astrology, or leisure studies or knitting. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Big celebrations this weekend. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Wow, knowing people who do/did those subjects for the last couple of years, she's got some hard work coming but mega rewards at the end of it!

Grandaughter took 2 subjects a year early, got A for statistics & C for science but she captains the (girls) school's cricket team and plays for the 1st eleven of a village's (male) cricket team and was the 1st female to do so in 120 years.
Not keen on sailing, altho' young brother is.

well my eldest is off to Reading with an A and 2 B,s,she will be doing a degree in Human Behavour and marketing, sounds like a job in sales awaits

My youngest im hping will end up as a Doctor of medicine, she is very bright in Science subjects, she got her results this year and she did no revision /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif what will she get if she revises?

its great for all of us that our kids are doing something constructive with their lives.

Flippin well done to Evita.

Now I know why your tidal calcs add up properly.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Please pass on all our congrats to her. That's a superb set of results!

PS.... wise choice of subjects for the next step.... as its exactly what I did all them years ago.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
