My boat has been ashore for a week and I've just spent a day with an evil 4.5kg polisher and cutting compound, followed by a good waxing and polishing to restore the gelcoat. . I drove the round about route out of the yard just so I could admire my work. Well worth it, and better toned arms as a result.
Just for information. I reviewed the PBO article about restoring gelcoat where they suggested a rather expensive polisher that runs at slower speeds and is very light. Unless you have piddly arms, don't bother. The worry about high speeds and scorching is negated if you keep it wet- I used marigolds and a circuit breaker just to be on the safe side.
This was probably more appropriate for PBO, but it's done now.
Well worth the effort. Just had to share it really.
