Very cheap brand new jet rib for sale

I agree, 13k is indeed a good price.
But I seem to remember that even an expert forumite, who used to be a fan of jetribs, recently saw the light and decided to return to outboards.
There must be a good reason I guess....? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yup, that forumite recently grew up and ordered an outboard (Honda, as it happens. Lightest weight).

But there are loads of folks who love jetribs, and good on em. For them, a brand new 18-19k boat offered at 2/3rds the new price is still a good purchase. This isn't even a seconfahnd new boat. It was delivered by Avon striaght to Essex Boatyards and they are holding it with their new boat stocks.

Yes, after all the lousy info on honda's website it turns out you can have short shaft power trim elec start on a 3 cyl 30hp, all at 71kg.

Mercury/Mariner dont do short/power trim 30 hp. Yamaha do and it's a nice engine but about 12kg heavier than Honda, and they only do the 30hp in short shaft not the 40hp. Suzuki have nothing useful (too heavy or wrong HP)
Don't know about Evinrude Etec becuase I can't get their website to work. At this point I'd given up the will to live and couldn't be bothered researching any more (Nissan etc), and the Honda was nice and Nick H's has worked well for a few years, and as I say very lightweight, so I chose that. Haven't signed the order yet, dealer is putting the whole quote together or me. Boat is to be Walker bay 340 console RIB, another lightweight at 100kg or so. With battery and fuel I'm expecting the whole thing to weigh about 225kg. That compares with 380kg for Avon, so well worth the weight saving.

Good stuff. The Honda weight is a bit out, it weighs 76 kgs dry (I stuck mine on the bathroom scales), but still the lightest 4 stroke 30 pt&t I think. So far very reliable and very quiet as well.

I threw my 320 jetrib in part ex for one with an outboard. Far, far better for a dinghy although my youngest son almost killed me for getting rid of his 'toy'. With the hassle of sucking weed into the impellor one too many times and having no propulsion, there was no decision to mbe made. It had to go.

At 25 hours use, good condition, and 5 years old, it was worth some 3500, only. One dealer said he gets them back all the time when UK users realise they don't work as dinghies.

Yep I'm really pleased with mine.
I was only thinking the other day how much nicer it was driving it round the marina than a JetRib would have been.

In fact I've even fitted a cheap DSC VHF radio into the console. I want to check out some of the local area around the marina so I also fitted a cheap echo sounder into it as well.

I'm sure that the 30 will be fine on the Walker Bay - and 12kgs lighter - thats a result. I never get to the max position on the throttle anyway. I didnt realise that the Honda was that light - They always seemed, in the past, to be heavier than other makes but thinking about it, Hondas have always been 4 stroke and I wasn't comparing like for like. Now that all engines are 4 stroke, they can be favourably compared. I've always seen Honda as a quality brand though. Anyway, as you know, I have the 40 Yam and very pleased with it.
