Hello,
In my fairline sprint I have a vertical steel bar in the engine bay on port side. It is screwed to to the bilge on one end and bolted to the deck on the other. It's purpose seems to be to give the engine bay gas strut something static to be mounted against. It has a bracket welded to it, or possibly rusted in place, for the strut to connect to.
Does anyone have an idea of what this part is called please? I'd imagine many boats with an engine bay which is wider than the engine bay door would have something similar to mount lower end of gas strut to.
