Does anyone know of any Essex or Suffolk marina, other than Suffolk Yacht Harbour has the Versadock drysail docking system please? I've nothing against SYH at all, looks a lovely place, it's just a bit of a treck for me. Has anyone used this facility or seen it in action, is it a good proposition for an aged single handed sailor with a Hawk 20 do you think?

Thanks Sailorman but I'm trying to escape from having to antifoul and all that's associated with it. Having a boat just clear of the water but "ready to go" sounds like a good idea.

Hi Rayjive,

I don't know of any other East Coast marina offering this facility. I think you'll find SYH are leaders in this field - the Versadock framework and roller system used for Melges shown here:

http://www.syharbour.co.uk/index.php/marina/berthing-fees/slipway

was designed by SYH, who still manufacture them for supply to S Coast marinas. I'm sure SYH would advise on their suitability for a Hawk 20 if you give them call.

Brightlingsea Boat Park and Ride - they do have plenty of BODs (18ft open ballasted sailing boats) and some small yachts (Beneteau 210 etc).

And at least one Hawk 20. Just get on board your boat in their boat park, they tow her round to the hard, launch you. You go sailing, give then a call when you've had enough and they meet you with your trailer ready to pull you out.

I have no personal experience of Brightlingsea but I have seen it in action and I am reliably told that it works very well

SYH have a director and shareholder named Peter Wright. What a coincidence?

And that is indeed me. I have never sought to hide my involvement as a non -exec director of SYH, nor hide behind a pseudonym, much less resort to changing pseudonyms. The OP had made it clear that SYH is not suitably located for his needs, I merely offered advice on how he might get help on whether a Versa dock solution would suit his boat. Personally, I am not familiar with the use of Versadock berths, so I could not offer that advice myself.

This is definitely a promotional post where you do not mention your connection to the company involved. You are making a commercial post on a free forum which in naughty to say the least. You have failed to mention you are a director of the company you are promoting and a shareholder of that company too. You got caught so don't try passing the buck.
