Bought one from Aldis last year. Seemed very well made for the money; so was a bit peeved when it went terminally erratic after about the fifth time I used it. If I was just unlucky, I might invest in another one.

Try changing the battery. I use mine at a charity workshop so it gets levels of abuse you wouldn't believe and is still going after 2 years (plus a set of batteries from constanly getting left on until it switches itself off)

If you get one ,try this to save the batteries.
When you closeit up to put it away in its box , do up the little lock screw on the top.
The on switch is very fine and any movement of the slider, even in the box will turn it on again.
Since I was told this tip my batteries have lasted forever, well nearly.

Similar thing bought from Lidl last year has proved to be an excellent piece of kit, and gets much more use in my workshop than expensive Mitutoyo dial calipers, and Kanon vernier gauges, simply because it is so much easier to read. Checked against 1 inch and 2 inch micrometer standards it proved to be spot on in both cases. (i.e. within one thousanth of an inch) I only use the other stuff now when I am chasing tenths.

Ditto - just got one too. Looks to be a good piece of kit, and as you say with a 3 yr warranty don't think you can go far wrong for £7.99!

Also got a suction mounted vice - should be useful for odd jobs on board, and a set of files/rasps - all very good value for money!
