I launched my "new to me" boat this week after routine maintenance and fired up engine - started first time. Put into gear to conduct a "basin trial" and all went well for a few minutes until the engine suddenly slowed and then stopped.
Back into neutral and restarted first time again, popped into forward and engine died.
At that point Trev of the Swanwick chapter (superheat6k - but he's never seen steam in his life) passed by and we got chatting.
Showed him the problem - hmm looks like fuel to me said Trev.
But it can't be I said, I've put 300 litres through in the last 3 months and there are at least 3 fuel filters between the tank and injection system.
Ah! but you can get residue that just causes injectors to block and stop working said Trev.....
Hmm I said - does sound like fuel starvation. I'll trawl the Verado forum tonight for a solution.
I then just topped up the oil as it was a bit low and raised the engine to allow it to all fall down into the sump.
Lo and behold the problem is solved!!!!!!!!
We were both wrong Trev! (nice new phone by the way...)
