Anybody know what time they will leave St Kats ?. Would like to try and see them somewhere around Southend or Sheerness.

TIMING UPDATE: The five crews are due to meet on their boats at 0630 Saturday morning, and then hope to lock out from St Katherine Docks at approx 0715. From the Thames they'll make their way to Ramsgate for a quick splash of fuel, before continuing on direct to Jersey. (Disclaimer: these are powerboaters so they may still be in bed at 0900)

wonder if they have AIS. ?

looking at the Venture track site, am i being technically stupid but i can't see any details of what speeds they are doing?

thought i was just being a technophobe.

so its a gps based position tracker that doesn't have facility to show speed.......

i am actually sad....

It was hailed as a far superior system to the Yellowbrick devices used by everyone else, funny that the suppliers seem to be a vehicle tracking company! Having said that as it isn't a race there is no need to see what position the boats are in or any of that stuff, I'll be they are wishing they had roofs on the boats as they will be getting a bit wet today!

Respect to those that have got to this point and despite all the set back, have gone for it! i really hope they have a great time and all get there safe! Scorpion ribs (and having had one i do know they are great) are going to get great exposure from this, 3 of the 4 boats being Scorpions and (i think) all three have a proven race background, (Hot Lemon, Grey Ghost and Tally Ho being i think chris stricklands old boat?)

despite all the set backs, i would like to follow them from the comfort of my sofa, Yellow brick does seem to be significantly better than the Venture Track site which, if we believe what we are being told has a lot more capability that isn't being used yet....

Tally Ho is Chris Stricklands old boat and I have been in contact with the owners a few times and very glad they are going ahead - it should be a great adventure if weather permits ............... I have been told a lot of information about the race over the preceding months as a race boat builder and competitor and as things have turned out I am now a little sceptical of the detail to be honest, certainly the organisers could be blamed for being optimistic in the extreme with regard to sponsors and the scale of the event.
