Has anyone got any experience of the 'Ventair' product or similar? The stuff to place under bedding to enable better ventilation, and thus reduce damp and mildew.

I remember a mention in a past PBO of someone testing it, but haven't seen any followup as yet.

I use it. The mattresses stay dry but there is moisture between the hard surface of the bunk and the underside of the Ventair. I believe that this is exactly as designed.

We use it as liveaboards under all the berths either regularly or occasionally slept on and in all sorts of shapes, and it works pretty well. We have also insulated (6mm closed cell foam) the underside of the locker covers which made a great difference to condensation in the lockers themselves. All these mattresses are on wood.

The ventair works pretty well, much better than coir matting. I haven't tried the slats, but also no use for us because our bunks are a funny shape. it is certainly better than having nothing there.

I started using Ventair last season.Easy to cut to shape for "V" berth and no condensation under berth.Very pleased with it.

I applaud Ventair, as a liveaboard. We also lined some locker bottoms and sides with it too, some of ours are against bare hull. It has sucessfully kept our stuff dry too.

Much easier to work with, and IMHO worth the expense.
