I note from the Vendee Globe 'tracking' page that the two leaders, Macif and Banque Populaire, are presently in light airs and pointed towards the Falkland Islands.

Would 'someone with knowledge of those waters' offer an opinion on whether there may be advantage in them routeing through Falkland Sound? Might there be some wind funneling? Is there enough depth for the 4.5 metre draft of these Open 60s?

I'm sure the solo skippers there are musing on the same questions.... :)

Thanks, PR. The relevant Ewen has answered helpfully - to me at least - on t'other Jester forum. Anyhoo, the wind has apparently gone L&V, poss. northerly, in their vicinity. I wouldn't want to be solo short-tacking one of them things up THAT sound, with or without a chart.....

Now a steady F3 up the chuff... ;)
