Is it just me or is the Vendee Globe much more interesting than the Volvo Ocean race? I check the web page pretty much every day and find the race captures my imagination. Can't say the same thing for the Volvo and don't even know where they are. Curious how others see it.

not following the Volvo. The Vendee, with its "solo" sailing catches my imagination more...

purely subjective and irrational, I know.

I Think the Vendee Globe is definitively more appealing, the updates seems more in depth and you get more of a perspective of the atmosphere on board. You can imagine the stress and strains and decision making process the individual racers are having to going through, to achieve there ultimate goal of sailing around the world solo. The Volvo is a dynamic racing event but the racing yachts are loaded to the gunnel's with highly organized and professional teams.Making it a totally different proposition as they have extra hands and team support on board.

I think the spirit and true grit and determination of the Vendee solo sailors, make it a more interesting race to follow.

The Vendee is compelling as far as I'm concerned, Volvo much less so (and America's Cup a complete bore - I'm not sure what is happening, whether some IT meglomaniac backed by a German car company has built a trampoline to compete with or what, and I couldn't care less.

But those Vendee guys - phew. Mike Golding only 40 miles off the lead today and our girls are doing fantastically. Hope they all stay safe in the south when they get there.

Vendee by far. The non-stop bit on top of single handed and the number of boats in the race...coupled with the very dynamic web site. Great stuff.

This is the first Vendee I have followed. I followed the Velux 5 Oceans 2 years, and back that was good but only a handful of boats.

Golding: pull your finger out!

I am pleasantly surpised, I thought I would be the only one following the Vendee globe. Seb is back in the front this morning but I think we will have to wait until they go through the first gate before the real order is known. Until yesterday I thought Mike was in a better position than reported but I think the changes in wind have gone against his choice of staying west. Shame that Sam will be putting the bikini away!

Looks like I'm not alone!
Like everyone else it seems, I think the Vendee is fascinating, Volvo no cares. Americas Cup?, I thought we were talking about sailing! Even when they make it to the water I find it pointless.

The Volvo Ocean- Isn't that the one with lots of back seat drivers and frequent service schedules, whereas the Vendee has always pushed the boundaries of what one sailer can handle ?

I'll go one further and suggest that we may be witnessing the end of the Volvo. There's insufficient entries and it's become a world marketing PR tour rather than a sailing event
