Velcro vs Hookit

I have just ordered a Metabo random orbital sander. The specification says the sanding discs are attached using the Velcro system.

A man on ebay is selling cheap bulk packs of 3M sanding discs that use the 3M Hookit system. I'm thinking of buying some but.....

Is Hookit the same as Velcro? Or compatible?

my understanding is they are all versions of the hook and loop fastening system. Velcro being a brand name that has become used generically, think hoover. My experience is they work with each other.
