Hi i bought an VDO Tacho last year ready for a winter refit , did all the prep (cut larger hole) and fitted the tacho only to find that after translating the german instructions that its for a Can Bus (easy link) System. To modern for my old leyland. Is there a way to wire the thing in or do i bite the bullet again and buy another?

Thanks

Wiki clicky

Originally intended for automotive use, but now used all over the shop, including plant control and boats. As said below, NMEA 2000 is CANBus based, but CNet 2000, as used on the now defunct Cetrek stuff, was also CANBus based.

A lot quicker than NMEA0183 and Seatalk.

Thanks all for the replys., been away a couple of days but b4 i went i ordered a Faria tacho from asap that will run on the alternator output, it was waiting for me when i got home. The VDO is a better a better unit but it is ment to be the hub for a complete system so i will sell it in the hope of getting some of the cost back. Al least i can get the instruments back in .

Best regards
