VDO Sumlog - downloadable instruction manual ?

Hi,

I've read the previous posts on this subject and I apologise if I've missed something.

So far I've have been unable to find a site where I can download a copy of the manual for my mechanical VDO Sumlog speed log.

I've tried Googling, the VDO Siemens web site and also their customer help line, but no luck so far.

So far as I can tell my particular instrument is not made anymore, and I am reluctant to rip it out until I have checked it thoroughly, a manual would be a great help.

My particular instrument has the square display with analogue speed display and mechanical trip counter.

The impeller (not paddle wheel) turns a short length of cable. Inside the hull at the end of the through hull assembly the turning cable is converted to an electrical signal, and a conventional elec cable runs to the instrument readout.

Does anyone know of a site where I can download an archive instruction manual ?

Dont think there was ever an instruction manual. The system is just as simple as you describe and I have an earlier version fitted to my boat, so if you have any specific question I will try to answer it .

Hi Homa,

I have a complete system like yours available if you get stuck for parts. All in working order. I used to have an installation guide too, but will have to have a look for that on the boat over the weekend. Got a horrible feeling I've chucked it though.
