Anyone know about VDO temp gauges - mines on the blink. Seems to read ok to about 45 deg C then flips hard against the other (high) end of the scale. Put the sensor in pot of water and got following..
Alarm goes from open to closed circuit at 99.4 deg C.
Sensor varies from 44 ohm at 99.4 deg C to 270 ohm at 44.9 deg C. Used to work now it doesn't, can't find any data on google so don't know if sensors gone or gauge or what.

TIA

More than likely the sensor, gauges are pretty reliable these days whereas the sensor gets cooked every time you run the engine.

That's what I think, too.

Mine started flicking over hard against the stop whenever I switched the engine circuit on. Art Butler of Deben Marine (who is a first class marine electrics and electronics practitioner, unlike some others...) thought he had inadvertently shorted it and insisted on replacing it free of charge, but it turned out that the sensor was defective and the gauge was fine.
