A boat, registered in the USA, coming to the EU and staying there more than 18 month will have to pay VAT. Can this boat then stay in the EU for an unlimited time (the visa for myself is not a problem I am a EU member)?
What happens when the non-EU boat which payed the VAT leaves the EU and returns again after some years - do I have to pay the VAT again?
Thanks a lot for your help Alois

If you're boat's VAT status is "VAT Paid" I can't see how they can force it to leave or charge you again. The RCD compliance is of course a different matter.

Our boat is "VAT Paid" in Greece and the receipt is part of the "Ship's Papers" for life so we can go anywhere in Europe without being charged again.
