Can anyone please enlighten me as to the address and telephone number of the Customs and Excise unit which collates vat receipts for home built boats and issues a certificate of VAT paid.

Also what are the rules reference RCD certification for home built boats, at what point is the date of building deemed to be and what age does the boat have to be before it is not applicable, if at all
Many thanks for the help

I'm just going through some of this but for (probably) diferent reasons.

On the VAT front if you paid the VAT on all the stuff you used to build the boat then its not an issue, I believe.

With the RCD the craft need to have been "put into service" within the EEA before the 98 deadline.

VAT matters for yachts are (or at least were a couple of years ago) dealt with by the Dover Yacht Unit, HM Customs and Excise, Parcel Post Depot, Charlton Green, Dover, Kent CT16 1EH; tel: 01304 224421.
