I had a friend a boatbuilder who employed a young man as a Varnisher…….23 coats on the chart table

Alas,my Dufour 24 has only two mahogany handrails,the smell of international paint ,Danboline,enamel and varnish are so evocative

Feel free to volunteer your services here. I can promise you all the smells you could possibly want. Not sure if anyone is having a paint job this year, but always varnish, epoxy and antifoul.

No my varnish work is not very good however hard I try

I feel your pain. As a schoolboy I spent most thursdays in the winter scraping and re-varnishing the school’s fleet of fireflies.

Mind you, no regrets. It meant I could mostly skive off square bashing and playing soldiers with the Cadet Force.
