I've just removed my Wayfarer's centreboard and found that there are a lot of paint chips. I need to have the boat back in the water this weekend so need a quick fix. I only have some Duragloss varnish to hand- can I use this to patch up the holes in paint, or will they react badly together?

Also, in the long run, which would be a better finish- varnish or paint?

That's Blakes Dura Gloss? That should be fine. its a single pack finish so will not react with anything already on there.

BUT you will not be able to simply overcoat it with a two pack finish at later date.

Paint/varnish personal preference I think. Paint will hide all manner of things. Varnish lets you see whats happening underneath.

Cool, a few dabs of varnish to get me through the weekend, then decide at a later date what to do long term.
