I have just stripped and rubbed down all the oak woodwork on my boat ,and applied two coats of wests resin ,how many coats of varnish need to be applied on top??? regards Ian
Epoxy resin will suffer from UV exposure, it will turn brown or yellow depending on additives and will over time weaken and allow water entry, powdery looking exposed epoxy is close to leaking unless it's 3 or 3 coats deep. Crazed epoxy will leak and flake off.
There are some manufacturers claiming their resins are UV stable, however I won't be the first to try them......

This UV protection for epoxy. If it does get exposed are the effects only cosmetic ( turns brown ) or does it affect strength ?
