My shaft still spins whilst sailing at over 7 knots with a folding varrifold prop fitted.
Has anyone experienced this or is my prop not folding?

Boat is a Jeanneau 33i with a regular shaft and Yanmar 3ym20 fitted. Even if I put it into gear it still rotates when sailing.!

Have you got a hydraulic gearbox? If so, putting it in gear won't work, you have to try and stop the prop spinning so it gets a chance to fold. To get my Maxprop to feather usually requires a blip of throttle in astern before turning the engine off. Sometimes I have to effectively stop the boat by reversing hard before it will feather.

It is folding - checked it alongside with a bore scope on a boat hook. Gearbox is a regular yanmar unit but even in reverse it still spins the shaft which is not good for the gearbox according to the manual.

Any more ideas?

Don't think it will spin in reverse. That locks the gearbox and the shaft and prop can't turn the engine.
