We chartered from Vancouver with Sunsail a couple of years ago and had a great time. Thinking of going back but Sunsail no longer have a base there. Several companies on the net but hard to choose: does anybody have any experience to recommend (or not).

I haven't chartered there only sailed with www.sailcraft.com which is a sailing school.

www.nanaimo-charters.bc.ca/ seem to have taken over the Sunsail boats and are a company which has been around for a while.

Awesome (as they say a lot over there) sailing area. I spent two weeks around the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound back in 2002 and did the Van Isle 360 with Sailcraft in 2003. The Van Isle is a yacht race around Vancouver Island........ see www.vanisle360.com if you're interested.

Not much help on the chartering recommendations but I didn't like to see a post without a reply /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In Comox on Vancouver Island, gateway to Desolation Sound so inaptly naemd by Capt. Vancouver!

Safe, inexpensive, 2 great pubs in Marina, the Blackfin and Edgewater. 7 pounds for a fresh salmon supper.

The Comox Glacier is clearlyvisible above Comox harbour and there are many islands to sail to starting with Hornby Island, visit Tribune Bay and especially to Fords Cove on Hornby Island.

There are inexpensive Govenment Docks in each harbour.
