Can anyone please tell me if there are any books which have information on Van de Stadt the yacht designer. Would love to know more about him - as I have one of his boats (Van de Stadt Legend 34). Thanks.

Yes there is one, it is about the famous E.G. van de Stadt, not his descendents. But he is the one you want, the designer of the famous Pionier and others. The book is in Dutch only, but comes with a CD ROM that contains the drawings of all 650 odd yachts he designed. The book is called`E.G. van de Stadt, pionier in jachtontwerpen' and is written and composed by Willem Akkerman, Theo van Harpen and Jan Broek. Publisher is Van Wijnen in Franeker. ISBN 90 51 94 21 84.

G'day Guy,

Ya Gota love 'em,

It's many years since I sold my Van de Stadt Spirit 28; would out point most of the fleet, very sea worth, won loads of races around the cans and others lasting several days.

There is a 50 footer with complete with bowsprit almost flush deck and low free board, looks beautiful, high gloss dark blue hull, called "Storm" operates as a charter boat in the Whitsundays. I love this design.

Have a look through the site link below for some of his classic designs.

Thanks for the reference web site - I can pull it up, but none of the links on it work for me. Any ideas ?
I have just completed one of his old designs - known as the Trintella 29 - from a GRP hull and deck moulded in the '70s and yes - I love it !
