Value of YSB 8?

I hoping to have a new Yanmar 2YM15 fitted in a Cornish crabber I'm buying, and have a detailed quote, with nothing said about the existing engine, a Yanmar YSB 8, which visually at least appears to be in good condition. Have these any value (ebaying it etc) or should I just be asking the engineers to dispose of it for me?

You might find someone looking for one as a drop in replacement, if it's a runner. I did just that in a boat 7 or 8 years ago and paid £450 for one. I would stick it on Boats and Outboards for £500 and see what happens.

Just looked and there's a YSB12 on there for £850

If you end up selling it, feel free to pm me as I may be interested in taking it off your hands if its a runner. Just in case my old yse has developed a more terminal issue.

It definitely has a value, running or not. Before I rebuilt mine I was looking around and found thy were going for well over £300. A queue of buyers for all of them as we'll.

If it is still in the boat and running then advertise it so that a potential buyer can see it running. That will probably enhance its value. You may even be lucky as I was that the buyer took the engine out so that they could see how it all fitted together.
