I have a lovely old yacht built in 1973. She also has a 2 stroke marine engine built in 1973. I cannot find any spares for it. Can anyone help please ?
It is a VALMET OY, VIRE 7 hp. Built at the Jyska Works, 40420 Jska, Finland.
I am particularly looking for a new impeller, Part no. 360360 and the gasket 521560. Any suggestions ? Thanks. Pheasy

I have PM'd you the number of a man who can help, I think he is called John..

I dealt with him 7 years ago, assume he is still going. He even sells them re-conned if he is still going...

It was his hobby/ business..

Hope it helps, allot of information online about Vires also the Trident Owners association has a good knowledge on them, they are a friendly bunch...

Yes

From the gofree indigo site linked to above:

The water pump impeller can be retrofitted with a Mercury Quicksilver part number 47-89981 impeller, for a fraction of the cost of the original. The only catch is that you have to enlarge the drive portion of the impeller to 12mm to suit the original shaft

I have not tried this....but I have one ready for the next time I'm changing mine.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement exhaust for a 12hp?

I'm thinking about fabricating a dry riser exhaust....but the real deal would be great.

Vire 7

My very grateful thanks to everyone who has helped me with this.
I have just made contact with Nick Le Feuvre of www.vireengines.com. He has all the spares I need and can even rebuild Vire engines. So I am a very happy man as I can now keep my old engine and yacht running for many more years. Happy sailing to you all.
Thanks again. Pheasy
