One additional crew member to join us for a slow gentle delivery from UK to Canary Islands in Mid-summer.
The plan is to sail from Fleetwood on about 1st July, around Land's End to Falmouth where we stop for a weather window to cross Biscay. By then we should [/I ]have the Portuguese Trade Winds aft of the beam giving us a downhill ride to the Canary Islands. I would expect us to stop for Tapas and diesel at least once somewhere in Spain/Portugal.
An excellent opportunity to have a 'Qualifying Passage'.
Crew must have good knowledge of Collision Regs when joining.
If you are interested, please get in touch.

still looking for crew ?

I'd happily join your crew but won't be free before July 8th. :(:(
I'm a French female , 54. I intend to apply for a job as a teacher in a naval school (in Brest) and need to improve my knowledge in british nautical terms.
Besides, I'm also looking to build up my sea miles.
I've been sailing for 7 years and, though I want to sail with people more experienced than I am, I'm now a reliable crew.
So, if the departure is delayed for some reasons, please contact me.

Hello,
I'm very interested in this opportunity. I'm 26 yrs old male, Polish, and have been sailing since I was a kid going inshore-cruising holidays with my parents every summer in Poland (Mazury lakeland). Within last few years I've had few opportunities to sail on Baltic sea as well. I can risk a statement that I'm experienced enough to be a useful crew member straight away but not enough to consider myself a good offshore sailor. My Collision Regs knowledge only requires refreshing in English - as my sailing knowledge is based on experiences from sailing with Polish sailors mainly. This is what I can complete through studying appropriate materials before the departure date :) I think it's also worth mentioning that I'm not afraid of cooking, have got some experience in boatbuilding and repairs. I'm very eager to learn new things and gain sailing experience and have time for the slow pace of your passage.
As you could probably notice I have no troubles with communication in English :)

Ragards,
Radek

Hi Feroe,
I will certainly let you know if there is a delay,
Good luck and enjoy the summer.

Hey Sarabande well done, that thread vanished off the plot previously. Reminds me of a cracking delivery on a dream machine..but at least I was being fed well, and not paying for the privilege of working! Cheers Jerry

Is it usual for delivery crew to pay then? Seems odd & greedy to me. Surely the delivery co is then getting two bites of the cherry.

No Comrade it's not usual and "two bites at the same cherry" is a good description. Yacht delivery companies sometimes charge inexperienced crew to work for them. Would you be happy if it was your yacht? I think the practice should be stamped out which would benefit all but the greedy bosses, but we can all dream...
See other threads on this subject for whining justifications from delivery bosses!
Or are you just pulling my pisser ;)
Cheers Jerry.
