Ive had my v40 for 3 months now and more than happy with it

question for any other v40 owner with a pair or kad 230s

whats the max revs you should get?
whats the max speed?

Ive had my filters changed and the fuel is clean but im only mangering 3500 revs
= 25 knots
is any v40 with 230s going any faster?

KAD 230's in a Targa 39 (just about the same as a v40) and I get 3800 rpm, 32kts flat out. Cruise at 3100rpm, 22kts, 1.4 mpg.

Should cetainly do more sounds like a dirty bottom to me
My F36 with twin KAMD43 recently slowed to 21knts max revs 3200.
Cleaned the bottom, now 24knts cruise, tops 27.5knts at 3800 revs

Definitely sounds like a dirty bottom. Lift the boat and get the hull scrubbed before spending any more money on the engines

Try scrubbing the legs best you can and see if you get an improvement.

My last boat was a V39 with KADs.

You should rev to 3800 or 3900 (verify with Volvo). Less than this suggests a fouled bottom, damaged props or incorrect props. If the latter, you will need a finer pitch to achieve design revs.

You should pull 30kts.

I had a V40 with KAD 44's and it did 38 knots at 3900

Just confirm the engine again, KAD 230's?

Do you mean KAD 43's ? which are 230 HP.

Design speed for these is 32 - 36 knots, dont listen to these sealine guys, you have a quick boat.

As others have said it could be fouling, but you would have seen a gradual degradation in performance. Have you dinked a prop? any vibration? Are both engines pulling same revs together?

Trim legs to beach and take a close look at props

If you intend to use boat during winter, get a cheap lift out and power wash off. Some boatyards are doing good deals (Salterns 50% off at present but thats in Poole)
You wont get any substantial growth now until next spring and it would put fouling out of the frame.
