UV Strip

Yes if you take the time to remove the old one and its stiching it will save you quite a bit on price when getting it renewed, as you dont have to pay for their time doing it.
Would suggest its best left to the sailmaker to fit a new one.
btw, its a type of light nylon material, (stronger than a nylon shirt for instance) not reinforced or anything like that. infact mine came off by just pulling it gently, as I think the stitching was quite rotton.

It cost about €150

[/ QUOTE ] Pounds sterling? I think my mate paid £284 for getting a Berwick genoa done but that included washing and some other work. We thought it expensive.

what about a seperate canvas cover that you raise on a halyard. Looks dead smart and probably better protection.

Dont know about price but might work out cheaper as they can be pretty generic.
