We're anchored at The Rocks, only seen two boats moving today. It's absolutely still, barely a sound from river birds, a soft mist seems to have enveloped everything. The children are asleep and I'm just about to nod off myself! It sure is a pretty river, give it another month and the place will be buzzing with craft and in a couple of months they'll barely be room to anchor at this spot. Meanwhile we seem to have the place to ourselves...

Seconded, with the same level of humour as I've spent most of the afternoon locating and repairing bits for the boat maintenance schedule I've been planning. Might even get to jet wash the deck tomorrow, though I'm not holding my breath
As for the report of a quiet evening at anchor on the Deben, go boil yer head in haddock infested custard ;)

It was lovely on the Crouch too, although we only managed a day sail up to Fambridge and back.

Maybe spring is actually going to happen this year.

You lot are not winning any friends here you know!

Praying for the weather to be half way conducive to the application of antifoul this weekend, if so there's a fighting chance of getting some sailing in by May

Had a lovely sail on Sunday from Canvey to Walton. Monday wasn't great but then cant have it all!!

This was the Wallet on Sunday morning just before the breeze filled in ;)

I think we overtook you just after Loders Cut and were intrigued as you took the east channel past Waldringfield, I've never had the nerve to do that. We also thought your daughter was being a bit optimistic taking a matress out to sunbathe on the foredeck. If I am right about your boat you will find a distant video of yourself going through Loders Cut on the thread I am about to post on crossing the bar.

You made a wise decision to bail out at the Rocks. Past Ramsholt the wind picked up to 20K and it became distinctly cold but as you say - a nice day compared to recent weeks.

Hi Peter, we headed for the rocks, just a 24 hour jolly to blow some cobwebs away. Yes that's us at the cut; we got used to using the east channel at Waldringfield when we had a cat drawing 2'6". Now we draw 4' 6" we have to take a bit more care. As long as the tide is within 30 minutes of HW we're safe to use the channel; it was very deep on the 10th, we had at least 18" under the keel all the way ;)
