Using various varnishes on my mast.

I have just run out of polyurethane varnish from Ijssel paints. It needed terpentine to thin it down. I am revarnishing my mast.
I have a pot of varnish, which needs thinners, but is it okay to paint over the other stuff I put on yesterday?
Advice appreciated!

I have not had any problems overcoating dry varnish in my cockpit with another type, including putting polyurethane over 2-pack and microporous epiphanes (white spirit soluble) over polyurethane and over old 2-pack.

I guess I'm getting paranoid! After having waited for yonks to get any varnish on due to the rain, I really wanted everything to go right now that the sun is shining.

I put a coat on yesterday afternoon and will go back to put on the next layer with the new varnish this evening. Suppose it must be okay considering I will sand it first.
