Using OxiClean for teak decks?

Does anyone have any experience of using OxiClean (Sodium Carbonate
Peroxide) for cleaning teak decks.
It's sold as a multipurpose stain remover for all sorts of materials
including carpets and fencing - so it should work ok, probably would
work on grp topsides also.

People usually use oxalic acid, the cheapskate's version is diluted in wallpaper paste or you can buy the expensive version ready diluted in the swindlery. If you leave it on for a few days it bleaches teak. If you put it on and scrub off not too long after it reddens the wood slightly. Either way wear gloves and treat it with respect. Good luck

Last weekend I used what I think is called Pro-Clean, specifically for teak. I got it from the chandlery it comes in a white bottle with black and blue lettering.
It's about £10 for 500ml. Produced extremely good results. So good it brought the cockpit up like new.
I think using Oxiclean may be a mistake as it's for use on GRP to remove rust stains etc. and may be too harsh.

For teak try 'NETROL' available @ Crown Decorating Services nationwide. Marketed as a cleaner/refurbisher for garden furniture. I apply once a year as instructions and it seems to do the trick. Wouldn't use anything else!

See previous postings. Gentle soap and water, never a bristle brush but only a sponge if its for teak decks. And always across the grain or you won't have any decks left.
