My GRP long keel boat has an "in hull" transducer, which is unreliable, probably due to its unsatisfactory position and hull thickness. There is a "disused" through hull transducer fitted in "position A", ie just forward of the keel. I have been reluctant to remove it until deciding on a replacement system. I was surprised to find it still operates , with an audible & palpable clicking when connected (3 wires: black/ white/ ground),but it gives a meaningless output on my NASA display. Transducer is Radarsonics Inc (USA) and may be the one with a 120khz output with 38 degrees beam. I have contacted them, without reply. Before I bash it out and discard it, I thought it worth asking: Any idea what the original system was, and, is it possible to match this transducer with any availble displays?
