Hi
Orange just upgraded my phone to the Sony Xperia SP smartphone and I was wondering if anyone has one of these and if you have tried running Navionics charts as the phone has GPS built in. I am particularly interested in the UK & Holland chart which at £19.50 looks a bargain. I asked Navionics if this would work with the Xperia SP, but they were rather unhelpful.

I have an Xperia P (not SP) on which I uploaded Navionics early this year. Works fine. Amazing how useful it is, never having had any sort of navplotter before. I particularly like the tidal height and current information availabe at the T and C diamonds. However I haven't found a way of getting the tidal stream arrows superimposed on the chart, I think this is something that the Android mobile version lacks.

I would expect it to work just as well on your new phone. Just keep an eye on its battery state and turn off the screen when you are not looking at it. Best to leave the app running though, if you want to know instantly where you are when you next turn on the screen.

Thanks James - most encouraging

That is most encouraging, I will order the chart after Christmas and give it a try.
