We fitted the Hydrovane a few years back, but I always missed davits for the rib.
So, me thinks, why not have both.
TCP, the cunning plan...
We have a slightly sloping transom typical of many 70´s cruiser racer designs (our hull is basically an Anderson Design offshore 34)..
We have the swivel bracket low down on the hull for the selfsteering, and the fixed at the top. we made the top bracket quick release so the vane can be folded against the transom, the davits are homebrew, when sailing inshore, we use AP and rib on davits, offshore, hydrovane with rib on the foredeck.
Best of both worlds.
I would upload some pics if I could get the damn Photobucket to work !, or is there a better site, PB keeps timing out... maybe a problem with their servers at the mo though.
