Hi all,
I have just installed a Digital Yacht AIT2000 class B AIS transponder. This has various outputs, one of which is the USB connection to my PC. The AIT2000 multiplexes the GPS and AIS sentences together into a single NMEA stream. I have confirmed this looking at the raw data on the PC.
So the issue I have is using this combined data feed. I have both Neptune Navigation v7 (I think..the latest anyway) and also Keith Belfield's Chartplotter programme. Keith's programme will only accept AIS and GPS on different COM ports, so won't read this combined stream, and the Neptune claims to be able to do so, but doesn't work in practice and when I analyse the data stream from within the Neptune programme using the logger, it seems to have filtered out the GPS sentences. I am raising this with Neptune.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to resolve the above, or have any suggestions to alternative Nav programmes that would support this combined NMEA stream?
Thanks
Piers
