Using Avon Rover as a tender

Just got a swinging mooring on the R Deben, half tide. My sailing club offers pontoon tender storage for cruiser owners. It would be convenient to leave my dinghy tied to the pontoon as the dinghy park is behind the sea wall.

But what about fouling? How do people keep the bottoms of tenders clean when left on the pontoon, as far as I know anti fouling an inflatable is not a good idea. There are perhaps half a dozen inflatables along the pontoon but I would have thought the barnacles and weed would love to get a grip on hypalon.

Is fouling an issue or am I overthinking as usual?

Yeah it does eventually, and it's a nightmare to remove.

We use an anti fouled hard tender and the inflatable stays onabord, usually in the lazarrete but currently relegated to the coach roof!

Cheap, old, hard dinghy of minimal value for shore to boat, antifoul that. keep the flubber on board and yes when cruising

When I bought my first sailing boat it was 11 years old and had never been antifouled. The boat had been kept in a drying berth against a jetty. Every month or so the PO would scrub the slime off with a broom, shell never had the chance to establish.

I can't see any reason why a RIB should be any different. Maybe not so easy to access as a fin keeled boat but cannot be all that difficult?

Only very recently joined and do not know anyone yet. On the two occasions I have been there there was no one about apart from dinghy sailers. I will certainly ask the first person I see tinkering with one of the inflatables ?
