Using a Strut Pro

Posted about this at the tail end of another thread where it got a bit lost, so reposting. Sorry if you've already read it!

Did my cutlass bearings last week with a Strut Pro tool.

Wow, what a pleasure!! Job was done without removing shafts in about ten minutes per side (not including taking off props and removing grub screws).

Tool was about $500 incl delivery and tax from the U.S. - shame I couldn't find a distributer in the UK..

This may sound expensive, but after getting quotes from local marinas its paid for itself already.
No connection, just a very satisfied customer

Great bit of kit, i bought a complete kit from the states, used it once somfar on a friends boat, 20 mins for two bearings.
In fairness the grub screws had been removed but I was well impressed.
If anyone needs theirs done in the west of Scotland, give me a shout.

I saw the Strut Pro a while back on a US site..... Months later I needed to do a cutless on my boat and noticed this sitting in the corner of my garage..... a Triumph Spitfire front suspension spring compressor.

A short while later...... an angle girder..... piece of scaffold pole ..... a collar turned up on the lathe..... and....

Bearing out and replacement back in in about 15 minutes!!!

Total cost..... nothing!!!!! I inherited the compressor with a car, but they are about £80 new. The scaffold pipe and steel for the collar came out of the scrap bin.
