I've got a jockey pole that came with the boat. I don't use it and noone wanted to buy it. So I'm thinking of shortening it to use as a bowsprit.
My question is: if I had two rings to hold it, one at the forestay connection and one on the foredeck, and it extended about 300mm in front of front ring, would it be strong enough to take the cruising chute?
It would need to be removeable as it would impede the anchor stowing. I was thinking of using the end clip to hold the aft end in place with a pad eye for easy removal. At the fore end I would attach a low friction ring bound around the pole with a pad eye to stop it slipping.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance
