! have on board a stainless steel measuring tool. It will measure inside and outside dia. as well as hole depth up to 4" problem is my eyesight is not what it was. Does anybody know if there is an electronic version of this with a nice bright LED readout? Whats it called? Who makes it? and how much ? It will be on my christmas wish list.

Most (if not all) manufacturers of measuring tools have calipers with digital reading on a LCD display.
Try www.facom.com.
Caliper 1300 (or is it 1900?)

Vernier calipers? If so yes and they cost about £50 for a cheapo digital one.

Thanks Folks, Knowing what the thing was properly called was a BIG help. Found a cheapo digital one on EBay for $19.95 US. so I treated myself!! PS. Makes 50 quid look really expensive.
