this looks like a good answer to a number of small lighting questions.

(I know that red lighting is not really needed for preservation of night vision - which is a matter of brightness of ambient lighting more than any particular colour - but as a light for use when you need to move around the boat without disturbing the crew, it's a good idea)

No connections of course, BTW,

Yes but look around and keep your eyes open for a bargain in LEDs.
I bought an LED light with 240v and 12v charger having 17 LED flood light and 19 LED spot light at local super market for $10 that 5 squid to my UK friends.
Or earlier I bought a 15LED shed light with remote solar charger (4 volt) on special at hardware super market for $15, 7squid to you. I am thinking of using that one as an LED stern light because it has wide coverage.
My poi8nt is just keep your eyes open for a bargain. olewill
